Cooking
Preparation
We start with ingredients that were available at the time, and prepare everything in the kitchen area. Whether it is a simple pottage for a week-day lunch or a meal for the Lord and his Lady with exotic spices, you can see it being prepared and ask questions.
Cooking
All of the cooking is carried out on an open fire, using wood and charcoal as fuel and pots and pans that are authentic to the period. It can get a little warm in the summer, but the kitchen suddenly becomes a favourite place to linger during colder weather.
Eat it
Finally we get to eat the fruits of our labours. A simple pottage and bread or roasted meat, a fish dish or a sweet treat, they all disappear in less time than it took to prepare and cook. They say an army marches on its stomach, and the Freemen prove that to be true.
