The Group

The Freemen of Gwent portray a self contained band of mercenary fighters on campaign. Whilst combat is an exciting and important part of the overall display, it is by no means the only element. An encampment that re-creates the life of people in the medieval age, with living history and craft displays, is busy throughout the day. Wood smoke from the cooking fire, the smell of food cooking, archers loosing at the butts, squires repairing armour, and the clash of steel on steel all combine to transport us back to an earlier time.
